3 Idiots vs Nanban 2012

(It suppose to be a quick post but I ended up writing more especially after yesterday I watched again the well made 3 Idiots ) (The guy on the far right seems better than the rest. Trust me, you will be safer watching the original 3 Idiots than the “new” idiots in Nanban - they are nowhere close to the beauty of story-telling and acting in 3 Idiots. Poster source: Indiaglitz) Indiaglitz in their review of the movie said:- First things first. Let's not compare '3 Idiots' with ' Nanban '. Though the latter is a faithful remake of the Aamir Khan starrer, 'Nanban' has its own moments. It carries a nice theme presented in an interesting way. It drives home the point that one shouldn't run behind success and rather pursue his/her own interests. If one develops right skill anything is possible. I guess they are just trying to be nice here and nothing more. I agree - perhaps Nanban would have made more sense and entertaining if you have not w...

Kandasamy 2009

We managed to catch the latest Tamil blockbuster, Kandasamy in Taiping’s latest cineplex last week or so and since the cineplex was quite new, the seats were comfortable and the sound system was outstanding. (Vikram surrounded by the Mexican drug dealer and bodyguards when he is on trail of black money) The Plot The story from Snastavirs’ blog :- Kandasamy opens with scenes showing ordinary people flocking to a Murugan temple which has become famous as all your wishes can be fulfilled at the temple. All those who submit their woes as petitions to Kandasamy (another name for Lord Muruga) on a piece of paper and tie it to a tree in the temple, their problems mainly financial are solved. Soon Kandasamy (Vikram) becomes a phenomenon, a caped crusader dressed as a rooster, takes up letters of ordinary folks from the petition tree, and in a Robin Hood way provides cash and succor. The local DIG of Police (Prabhu) suspects that there is something unnatural about it and start...

Thimiru Pudichavan 2018

Another Vijay Antony movie which only means one thing – good acting from Vijay Antony, at least one good song with good picturisation but uncertainty on the storyline & logic. The Synopsis Constable Murugavel (Vijay Antony), who is from a village in Tamil Nadu, lives his life for his brother, who is a school student. He finds that his brother is having a criminal nature following various incidents, which points out his brother as the culprit, and his brother also has friends of similar nature. Murugavel tries various ways to change the mindset of his brother but fails. One fine day, Murugavel's brother runs away from home to live a better life, which he dreams of. Murugavel, at the same time, gets posted as a sub inspector in Chennai. While in Chennai, Murugavel comes to know that his brother is now a well known criminal who is involved in snatching as well as other crime cases. He comes to know that his brother and others who do such cases are under 18 years of a...

Adanga Maru 2018

(Poster source: www.bollywoodlife.com) Jayam Ravi have always been an underrated actor – he is not “big” as other actors at his age like Surya or Vijay but he hold his own fort when it comes to acting. He has the right charisma & expression when it comes to tense moments and comedy. The only let down has been a good story & characters have not been forthcoming easily for him. His latest movie - Adanga Maru has all the right vibes and a strong story that seems tailored made for him. The Synopsis Subhash is an upright and sincere Sub-Inspector of Police in Chennai. Subhash cannot stand the suffering of the public and looks for ways to better their lives, and this often lands him in trouble with his superior Inspector Muthukaruppan. One day, Chandran and Subhash are called on to investigate the supposed suicide of a girl. On closer investigation, Subhash deduces that it was not a suicide and that she was murdered. While collecting evidence to support this, he ...
