Thimiru Pudichavan 2018

Another Vijay Antony movie which only means one thing –  good acting from Vijay Antony, at least one good song with good picturisation but uncertainty on the storyline & logic.

The Synopsis

Constable Murugavel (Vijay Antony), who is from a village in Tamil Nadu, lives his life for his brother, who is a school student. He finds that his brother is having a criminal nature following various incidents, which points out his brother as the culprit, and his brother also has friends of similar nature.

Murugavel tries various ways to change the mindset of his brother but fails. One fine day, Murugavel's brother runs away from home to live a better life, which he dreams of. Murugavel, at the same time, gets posted as a sub inspector in Chennai.

While in Chennai, Murugavel comes to know that his brother is now a well known criminal who is involved in snatching as well as other crime cases. He comes to know that his brother and others who do such cases are under 18 years of age and they are controlled by a person named Meesa Padma (Sai Dheena), a local thug and gangster who uses children under 18 years of age for his antisocial activities. He then kills his brother. From there, Murugavel is regarded as a daring police officer and gets promoted as Inspector, but fights a condition of getting high blood pressures and insomnia at times.

How he tackles the kingpin Meesa Padma and how children are recruited to his gang forms the rest of the story.

The Plot

Well, it feels like the scriptwriters decided that the story was too long and took a large machete and decided to slice up the stories – leaving some of the plots incomplete. Within minutes of killing his younger brother, the hero is awarded promotion and police station to take care – totally disregarding the red tapes in a large organisation.

Earlier it does not mention how the hero knows that the food that his brother passing to him is poisoned and thus in the end, allowing him to escape the plan that his brother had set for him.

And deciding to teach the children already gone rogue under the criminal is a new thought in fighting crime BUT doesn’t this going to take a very long time to achieve success? In the meantime, wouldn’t this mean the criminal time and space to recruit more children into his criminal gang? The timeline seems not logic.

The Music

Vijay Antony at first is a good music director and had many great hits under his belt. It is no different for this movie. One song however stands out very prominently – Naga Naga which is set behind a background of the hero trying to be passive but confronted by the criminal’s gang members who are out to kill me. It is solid and hits the nail on the point on the situation of the movie.

Final Say

Pros: Standard quality of acting from Vijay Antony and the song – Naga Naga

Cons: Too many loose ends on the storyline – you need to ignore it if you just want to pass time watching this movie
